SENIOR SAFETY
OPM has implemented Senior Safety, a program designed to educate the elderly on how to be more alert when out and about, protect themselves from identity theft, how to spot a con, avoiding telemarketing scams, and how to make their home more safe and secure. Senior Safety will give information on what to do if they have been a victim. It will also help seniors get more involved in their community. Staying active in the community will help seniors feel safer and help make their neighborhoods a better place to live.
CRIME FREE KIDS
Crime Free Kids is a program that gives kids the opportunity to get involved in their community and learn that at no matter what age they can impact their communities in a positive way. OPM uses Ugo Bear - The Community BuilderTM to fully have an effect on the program. OPM uses Ugo Bear - The Community BuilderTM costume which features many new and innovative functions that greatly increase the versatility of our presentation. The Ugo Bear costume can be used in a variety of settings with great success; in school classrooms, mall exhibits, station tours, state and local fairs, or to present crime prevention awards. We want to use Ugo Bear to help us present our crime prevention messages to help kids become crime free.
GIRL POWER
Another program that OPM plans to implement is Girl Power. Girl power will empower girls to create change in their community. Raising confident and healthy girls is especially challenging today. Many elementary school girls worry about clothing, popularity, and their weight more than traditional childhood activities. But having mature interests often puts young girls in situations they aren't ready for and that their parents don't expect them to experience until they are older. Girls today face shortened childhoods. They face a lot of pressures, including pressure to dress a certain way, pressure to seem older by trying and using drugs and alcohol, and sexual pressure from classmates, online sources, and the media. Girls can make healthy decisions in even the most difficult situations, but they need to be prepared. Girl Power can help give girls the confidence to stand up for themselves and do the right thing by starting early and talking about the tough issues girls may face.
