Stop Bullying Now! Lend a Hand Initiative
The youth summit is a free event, withfood, entertainment, and fun alsoinformation booths and workshops. Another big part of the youth summit is the awards ceremony where youth are recognized for their leadership in their community, by receiving the OPM Acts of Kindness Award. We also have several guest speakers who come out to inspire youth to get involved and follow dreams.
This Summit is an opportunity for schools to:
a. have students and faculty showcase
their schools' anti-violence, anti-bullying,
and pro-tolerance and respect programs; and/or
b. have students and faculty interested in developing new programs learn about all the different ideas and programs that other schools are engaged in.
The Summit's purpose is to recognize all positive student efforts to end aggression and bullying and to reward exceptional efforts. Too many school students believe that they are the only kids who want to stop bullying and aggression. The Summit will help all students, faculty and parents appreciate how many people care about these issues and how many different, unique, and interesting programs are being utilized. Students and faculty may either simply attend the Summit to learn about other programs, or they may apply to create a Poster Presentation of their school's programs, to be presented during the Summit.
All presentations will be eligible to win a "Ugo Award" with the first place winner to be included in Operation Peace of Mind’s 2012 Bully Free Future (BFF) Awareness Campaign.
This Summit features:
1. An opportunity for schools to network, discuss, learn from each
other, and share ideas about student-led anti-violence and anti-bullying
programs;
2. An opportunity for School Students to display and present the
Anti-Violence efforts they are involved in. This will be a "poster session" where presenting students display their school's program(s), giving other
attending students and faculty the opportunity to "browse" among programs,
enter into discussions, and learn;
3. First-, Second- and Third-Place "Ugo's Hero Award Prizes*

The Impact
Upon completion of the Summit, the participants will be provided with access to resources on bullying, violence and leadership opportunities. Participants will have option to join the Stop Bullying Now Club, that will provide avenue for kids to not only provide support to one another, but kids that have not been comfortable speaking out about bullying will now be able to.
